FAIRBANKS, AK, OCTOBER 28, 2021 — Established in 1985, Love INC of the Tanana Valley will change its name, effective January 1, 2022, to Helping Alaska. The change comes following many months of discussion by the Board of Directors on topics concerning the agency’s continued impact on the local community.
For 36 years, Love INC has paid association fees to the Jenison, MI headquartered national organization. When evaluating the dues structure, it made sense to reinvest those resources in the community it serves.
“The change is largely financially motivated. As a part of a larger, national organization, the dues Love INC paid to the national organization for its membership no longer made sense. We needed to be good stewards of our donor’s financial contributions and make sure those resources stay right here at home and continue to serve the people of the Tanana Valley,” says Executive Director Jason Kempthorne.
The core programs and services offered by Helping Alaska will not be impacted by the change. Helping Alaska will continue to offer assistance to those in the greatest need, right here in the Tanana Valley.
The rollout of the name change will take place between now and December 31, 2021, with an overhaul of the agency’s branding, including websites, social media channels, and fundraising initiatives. Additional information will be provided in the agency’s quarterly newsletter, to be issued in November.
