Distraught, disheartened, and lost he found himself traveling from gas station to gas station, wandering the streets of Fairbanks. In Fairbanks for only a short time, this young man was promised a job here and was looking for a new start after the loss of his brother. Sadly, the job didn’t materialize and he was stranded at the airport with nowhere to turn, in a city he didn’t even know.
A Struggle With Addiction
He struggled with addiction, but by the grace of God has maintained his sobriety even through his difficult situation. He was referred to us by a gas station clerk who knew of the helping hand we offer to those in need. He made the call and we answered. Well before we were open for business and out of his normal routine, one of our program managers answered his call.
A short time later our program manager met him at the door. They talked, shared a few moments of hope and love together, and he was on his way to the Fairbanks Rescue Mission with a freshly loaded $75.00 Safeway gift card to help him get through the next few days.
Each day our staff go above and beyond to help those in need. Before work, during their day, and after work, they strive to help those who are struggling in any way they can.
Your Support and Awareness
Without your support and awareness, those who suffer would have fewer places to turn. Without God’s mercy and grace, we would not exist to answer the call. For “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord, they will be saved.” Romans 10:13.
