Current Needs

Love INC has a variety of areas for volunteer service, depending on your interests, skills, and the time you have to give. Love INC holds volunteer orientations twice a month on the first Thursday of each month at noon and the third Thursday of each month at 5:00. Orientations last approximately one hour and include an overview of the Love INC ministry, volunteer opportunities, and a tour of Love INC.

Call 452-3876 if you would like to attend a volunteer orientation.

Relational Ministry

Relational Ministries are programs that enable churches and church volunteers to form deeper relationships with families and give them the tools and support they need to change their lives for the better—to end an existence of living from crisis to crisis—to restore them to stability. By showing love and concern for the families they work with, church members are sharing the love of Jesus, which is the only way lives can truly be transformed.

Coordinators
Oversee the Quality Life Education and Mentoring (QLEM) program as a relational outreach ministry of their church. Coordinators recruit and train volunteers from their church to serve as Budget Advisors or Teachers. Coordinators fax class attendance and voucher referral forms to Love INC weekly. Coordinators may choose to teach the class. The Coordinator, Teacher, and Mentors get to know the needs of the group and, at the conclusion of the 12-week Financial Management series, the church decides whether to repeat the Financial Management class or offer other topics such as marriage or parenting as appropriate to the needs of the group. The Coordinator may ask other church members to teach the other topics. Love INC provides curriculum, forms, training materials, etc and assists with training as needed.
Weekly Commitment: 120+ minutes per week

Quality Life Budget Mentors
Serve as a sounding board and encourager for individuals and families in the Quality Living Education and Mentoring (QLEM) program as they move toward financial stability. Develops a relationship during the 6- to 12-month commitment and helps to ensure clients apply knowledge and skills obtained pertaining to spending, creative saving strategies, debt management, credit and other related areas of money management and finances. Mentors assist clients with voucher referrals and send progress reports monthly to the Love INC office. Volunteer Mentors may be from the church hosting the program or from another church.
Weekly Commitment: 90-120 minutes per week (commitment of one year is optimal).

Money Management Class Teacher
Instructs participants in the QLEM Program. The 12-week class covers topics such as financial goals, banking basics, record keeping, saving and investing, living within a budget, understanding credit reports, dealing with debt, the trap of credit cards, etc. They may teach all or part of the curriculum or invite guest teachers for specific topics.
Weekly Commitment: 60 minutes per week

IMAGE (Inspiring and Motivating Adults to Generate Esteem) Instructors
Instruct the 12 week IMAGE class as an outreach ministry of their church. IMAGE classes help individuals identify barriers, set goals, and support each other as they work to change their lives. Instructors fax attendance to Love INC weekly. IMAGE class is a prerequisite for clients prior to acceptance into the QLEM Program. IMAGE classes can be taught at the same church that is hosting a QLEM Program or in separate churches.
Weekly Commitment: 45-60 minutes per week

Clearinghouse

The Clearinghouse connects people in need with resources in community agencies and/or local churches. Caring volunteers share Christ’s love by meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals and families. Requests for help referred by Clearinghouse volunteers to churches are specific, manageable, and legitimate. Clearinghouse volunteers typically work one (1) three hour shift per week.
Clearinghouse Phone Volunteer
Interview client’s over the phone to collect information about their request. Assesses and verifies their needs and connect legitimate, manageable needs with resources from churches and local agencies.

Clearinghouse Receptionist
Conduct basic client intakes to set up client files. Provide callers with basic resource information who have an emergency need of food or shelter.

Clearinghouse Record Keepers
Recordkeeping volunteers enter statistics and other records into client files and help with other Clearinghouse projects as needed.

Service Team Leaders
Coordinate volunteers from multiple churches who signed up to meet a specific need. The Clearinghouse refers the need to the Team Leader who then matches it to a volunteer to fill the need. Currently we need Teams Leaders for Furniture Delivery and Moving.

Gap Ministry Leaders
Coordinate a specific Gap ministry (“Gaps”) at their church. Gaps are used to provide support for people needing financial assistance. Gaps help to “free up” the client’s own funds by providing essentials such as diapers, toiletries, winter gear, paper and cleaning products, firewood, household items, or furniture, while the client applies to agency resources for financial assistance. Ministry Leaders recruit and coordinate other church volunteers to keep the Gap ministry items organized, fill the voucher orders, and talk to and pray with clients when they arrive to pick up their items.

Transportation Driver
Transport Love INC client’s to work, job search, medical care, or other essential appointments. Drivers typically work one shift per a week or serve as a back up driver covering shifts as needed. Morning shifts are 7:30 – 12:00 and afternoon shifts are 12:00 to 6:00. Drivers receive a detailed schedule with rider information, pick up and drop off times, and driving directions.

Church Contact Persons
Serve as the vital informational link between their church and Love INC. As a liaison, the Contact Person keeps the church informed of Love INC ministry opportunities and informs Love INC of the talents and passion for ministry in their church. If your church does not have a Contact Person, and you are interested in serving in this capacity talk to your pastor, priest, or other church leader.

Office Work Volunteer
Assists staff in administrative tasks such as book keeping, filing, data entry, copying, website editing, or any other assigned task.
