Love In the Name of Christ of the Tanana Valley had a phenomenal year in 2011. PRAISE GOD!
For the first half of the year we were not receiving sufficient donations to cover our operating expenses. The Love Never Fails campaign which was begun in October of 2010 came to a close in April 2011. The campaign committee met with many local donors, businesses and corporations, and coordinated our first Online Auction, the Brad Stine Comedy show, and the Governors Prayer Breakfast.
The primary objective of the campaign was to raise funds to pay off our building loan. The campaign netted $65,814 which combined with what the board had set aside from prior years, gave us $99,315 to apply to the building loan. From these funds, we made an initial payment of $50,000 and began making monthly payments of $3,900 beginning in July.
In June our paid staff volunteered to reduce their time and salary by 25% which the board accepted effective July 1. On July 14 we were blessed to rent the upstairs of our building to Complete Services Company, Inc. In August we rented the commons area to Prophetic Messianic International for Saturday usage.
In July we had our 25th Anniversary Celebration – Love Cruise which was a wonderful time and a great success. We had a wide variety of other fundraising events from Create-A-Gift to a Hand Bell Concert to a second Online Auction. And then came December with incredible year-end donations. All of this came together, by the grace of God, to give us an operating surplus of $63,544. The board has set this surplus aside for paying off the building loan. The balance of this loan at December 31, 2011 is $313,754.
All of this is made possible by Christ working thorough the staff, volunteers, board members, and our supporters by their efforts, financial support, and prayer. Thank you!
